A wanted woman who attempted to murder her lookalike with a poisoned cheesecake was finally captured thanks to the relentless efforts of a private investigator

The incident occurred in August 2016 when Olga Tsvyk, a beauty stylist from Queens, New York, fell seriously ill and lost consciousness after receiving a piece of poisoned cheesecake from her client, Viktoria Nasyrova. Tsvyk nearly died and, upon regaining consciousness, discovered that her personal belongings, including purses, money, and jewelry, were missing. She immediately pointed the finger at Nasyrova, but the police were unable to locate her. Unbeknownst to them, another determined investigator was on the case.

Herman Weisberg, a former NYPD detective turned private investigator, had been researching Nasyrova for an unrelated case. Late one night in early 2017, Weisberg stumbled upon Nasyrova’s Facebook profile and noticed a distinctive white stitching on a car’s headrest in one of her photos. He also observed a unique dashboard in the reflection of her sunglasses.

Employing his seasoned detective skills, Weisberg scoured a vast parking lot until he found a car matching the details from the photo a Chrysler 300

Speculating that Nasyrova might reside in Brooklyn’s Sheepshead Bay neighborhood, based on her Facebook activity, Weisberg dispatched a team to search for Chrysler 300s with the same interior there. They identified several cars and provided Weisberg with their license plate information. One of the plates led to an address, which Weisberg recognized as the same building reflected in Nasyrova’s sunglasses. To confirm her identity, he noticed that the beige suede shoes she wore in surveillance footage matched those in her Facebook pictures.

With substantial evidence in hand, Weisberg informed the Brooklyn detectives and guided them to Nasyrova’s apartment. Minutes later, she was apprehended and found in possession of Olga Tsvyk’s ID card. Investigators strongly believed that Nasyrova intended to murder Tsvyk and assume her identity. It was later revealed that Nasyrova had a motive to stay in the United States, as she was also wanted for allegedly robbing and murdering Nadia Ford’s mother in Russia in 2014.
