By the close of the month, hundreds of thousands of Californians who did not get their Middle-Class Tax Refund check will do so.
A payout of up to $1,050 was given to the majority of people this past year, based on their earnings, filing status, and family size. Californians who qualify will receive one-time payments from the state’s Democratic-controlled legislature to assist with offsetting historically high costs of gasoline.
The payouts were announced by California Governor Gavin Newsom in October of the previous year. “We understand it’s costly right now, and California is going to put funds back in people’s pockets to assist you,” he stated. “We’re giving out refunds totaling more than $1,000 to assist families to afford anything from meals to gas,” the statement continued.
