A team of up to 50 individuals equipped with bear spray attacked a Los Angeles mall on Saturday and stole luxury goods valued at about $100,000, according to authorities.
A police official said that between 30 and 50 persons attacked the Nordstrom store at the Westfield Topanga Mall in Woodland Hills and used the spray to disarm security personnel as they stole designer clothing and purses valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars.
A little after 4 p.m., the LAPD reported, “numerous individuals stealing” was the subject of the call. The loss was valued by the police at $60,000 to $100,000.
The LAPD released a statement saying that “Topanga Division detectives were on the spot shortly and have established numerous investigative leads.”
The thieves left in a BMW and other vehicles without any obvious sign of arrest.
In footage that has been going around on social media, people tearing down racks and running out of the store with expensive goods while wearing hoodies and masks that hide their faces.
