Tyler Anderson, a 30-year-old resident of Dover, New Hampshire, has been taken into custody for sending threatening text messages to Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and attendees of a campaign event

Anderson is set to make his initial court appearance in Concord later in the day. According to charging documents, Tyler Anderson responded to a campaign notification text on December 8, expressing violent intentions. He stated, “Great, another opportunity for me to blow his brains out!” and went on to make disturbing threats against those attending the event.

Ramaswamy, addressing the incident, expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their swift response. He commended his security team, comprised of retired police officers and ex-military personnel, for ensuring his safety. Tricia McLaughlin, spokesperson for Ramaswamy’s campaign, emphasized the collaboration with the New Hampshire state police and urged investigators to determine the motive behind Tyler Anderson’s threats.

Tyler Anderson could face up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000 if convicted

Biotech mogul-turned-presidential hopeful Ramaswamy held a gathering at Portsmouth’s Roundabout Diner, addressing nearly 100 attendees. He exuded confidence about his safety on the campaign trail and reaffirmed his determination to overhaul federal agencies, including the FBI if elected. Despite lagging in polls, he stressed the need to revamp these entities for increased effectiveness.

In the escalating 2024 GOP nomination contest, Ramaswamy, once an unexpected entrant, faces formidable opposition, notably from former President Donald Trump, who maintains a considerable lead. With the Iowa caucuses looming in five weeks, Tyler Anderson’s incident injects a fresh dynamic into an already intense political arena.
