According to the North Central Washington Special Investigation Unit (NCWSIU), an independent oversight group handling the case, the shooting took place around 8:25 p.m.
The perpetrator, described as male, began firing randomly into a crowd located a few hundred yards from the amphitheater. Thousands of fans attending the festival were present at the scene. After carrying out the initial shooting, the assailant proceeded to walk away from the area but continued to discharge his firearm indiscriminately into the crowd. Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and engaged in a firefight with the gunman. The suspect sustained injuries and was subsequently transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Later, the police took him into custody.
