Sexual Abuse Victim’s $5 Million Award Will Be Reduced to Less Than $1 Million Following Trump’s Defamation Claims
The 79-year-old sexual abuse victim of former president Donald Trump, E. Jean Carroll, had been awarded $5 million; however, her award will be reduced to less than $1 million following defamation claims.
The former president’s lawyers claimed that the sexual abuse victim was not raped, just like what she had been claiming, so the award granted was too much compensation for the crime.
According to reports from AP News, the lawyers claimed in their submitted note that the award received by the sexual abuse victim should not have been more than $1 million for the sexual abuse, defamation, and the impact of the case on the victim’s name.
