Recent reports indicate that the woman provided inconsistent accounts regarding her pregnancy, suggesting either a miscarriage or an abortion while claiming Bauer was the father.
Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer is facing new developments in the sexual assault case brought against him by an Arizona woman in December 2020
The woman initially reported the alleged incident to Scottsdale Police in December 2022, but details of the case have only recently emerged. The woman initially stated she had a miscarriage but later referred to it as an abortion during the interview. When questioned about the discrepancy, she claimed that they were essentially the same thing and declined to provide further details.
Approximately one month later, the woman informed the detective that she had actually miscarried before visiting a clinic in another state. She asserted that she did not seek any medical treatment and instead saw her obstetrician-gynecologist upon returning to Scottsdale. However, medical records provided by the woman failed to confirm her pregnancy.
Bauer’s attorney, Anne Chapman, contacted the Scottsdale Police in January to file a complaint, alleging “theft by extortion.”
The complaint stated that the woman had demanded financial compensation from Bauer for pregnancy and abortion which was later deemed false. Police reviewed the complaint but concluded that it did not rise to the level of criminal activity. In March, police requested an interview with Bauer, but he had already moved to Japan to play for the Yokohama BayStars. As a result, the case was considered inactive due to a lack of probable cause.
The woman’s attorneys filed an amended complaint on Tuesday, explicitly stating that she had a miscarriage. These allegations were subsequently reported by USA Today. Bauer’s representatives, Jon Fetterolt and Rachel Luba, issued a statement denying the woman’s claims and accusing her of making multiple extortions attempts over the past two years. They also mentioned that Bauer had filed a criminal complaint and a fraud lawsuit against her.
