Pennsylvania Law Enforcement reported that the car crash occurred in North East Township at the intersection of Gay Road and Lake Road.
A fatal car crash took place in Pennsylvania on Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a Webster woman who was identified as one of Rochester’s Sisters of Mercy
The car crash transpired when the driver of a Chevy Equinox proceeded through the intersection and was struck on the driver’s side by a Dodge Ram.
According to officers at the scene, the Equinox rolled over before coming to a stop on its wheels in a nearby grassy area. Both vehicles suffered significant damage in the car crash. Each vehicle was occupied by four individuals. The Ram carried two young boys, aged six and nine, while the Equinox was occupied by three women from Webster and one from Nebraska, all members of the Sisters of Mercy.

The driver, Sister Joanne Deck of Webster, sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to a nearby sanitarium for medical treatment. The remaining passengers in the Equinox, as well as the two boys in the Ram, were also transported to hospitals due to potential injuries.
Authorities have not disclosed further information regarding the circumstances that led to the car crash. Sister Arlene had dedicated 59 years of her life as a Sister of Mercy, as confirmed by the Diocese of Rochester.
