According to school district authorities, the elementary school student had been assisting in closing the gate as part of end-of-day routines. Unfortunately, the gate unexpectedly disconnected from its support, resulting in it falling onto the young elementary school student.
Deputies and emergency responders rushed to the school in an attempt to resuscitate the elementary school student. Despite their efforts, an elementary school student was later pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital, as confirmed by the Pima County sheriff’s office.
