Toddler to recover as family remembers mother killed in Phoenix murder-suicide

The family and friends of Ashlee Corona are grappling with an overwhelming sense of sorrow following the tragic loss of the 35-year-old mother due to domestic violence.

In the midst of a tragedy, the family has decided to cherish the joyful memories. Corona was known as the heart and soul of any gathering, always ready to sing and dance.

Her greatest joy came from being a mother to her 2-year-old son, Maverick.

Eva Hernandez, Ashlee’s godmother, shared that Ashlee was overjoyed when she discovered she was pregnant with him.

Police were called to an apartment near 99th Avenue and Indian School Road on Sunday night.

Upon entering the premises, Ashlee and Andrew Corona were discovered lifeless, while Maverick had sustained a gunshot wound.

According to detectives, it is believed that Andrew shot Ashlee and Maverick before ultimately turning the gun on himself.

As individuals navigate the terrifying realities of domestic violence, their loved ones want to ensure that other victims understand they are not alone.

“If you find yourself in a difficult situation with no way out, don’t hesitate to reach out to your loved ones for support,” advised Adrianna Arias, Ashlee’s cousin. “There are resources available to help people going through tough times.”

The main priority at the moment is Maverick’s recovery. According to his family, although he is still in the ICU, he has been taken off the ventilator and is progressing well.

“Hernandez expressed his belief that her legacy will continue through him and emphasized that they will provide unwavering support to him during this time.”

The family created a GoFundMe page to assist with the costs of the funeral and provide support for Maverick. If you wish to make a donation, please click here.
