The former US intelligence director’s daughter’s murder conviction is overturned by a Maryland appellate court: report

An appeals court in Maryland on Tuesday overturned an indictment for murder involving the adopted daughter of former President George W. Bush’s Director of National Intelligence, John Negroponte, due to information the jury in the trial shouldn’t have been seen, according to sources.

3 judges from the Maryland Appellate Court rendered their verdict on Sophia Negroponte’s conviction, according to Washington, D.C. radio station WTOP. This resulted in the case being sent to a lower court since the jury saw parts of an interrogation video where detectives cast doubt on Negroponte’s credibility.

The prosecution’s expert witness, who cast doubt on Negroponte’s honesty, also testified before the jury.
