Bud Light has dropped billions in revenues and market worth over the last 3 months; based on statistics from Bump Williams Consulting and NielsenIQ, revenues for the week of June 10 fell by 26.8% when matched to the same period last year.
The sharp decline in sales occurred after Bud Light gave transgender blogger Dylan Mulvaney cases of beer in April as a result of a brand collaboration that featured her visage. However, the influencer’s tweet announcing a giveaway for the brand sparked debate, leading to boycotts from customers who opposed the collaboration and disapproval from those who objected to Bud Light’s reaction and eventual withdrawal from its prior vow.
The beer company is currently attempting to win back customers with money incentives along with additional promotions.
The 1979 classic song “Good Times” by Chic is used in a new television ad for Bud Light titled “Easy to Summer” that was presented on Thursday. The advertisement is just a small part of a larger effort by Anheuser-Busch, the holding company of Bud Light, to increase sales and customer engagement. They refer to it as “Bud Light’s biggest summer campaign ever.”
