Dan Patrick, the Republican lieutenant governor of Texas, charged that President Joe Biden believed that the “American people are just stupid” on the border crisis.
Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, has asserted that the border is secure numerous times. During a news briefing at the White House on August 31, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that assertion.
“They have been deceiving us all along. They believe that the American people are simply stupid,” Patrick said to Laura Ingraham on Fox News. “In my opinion, there is no one more harmful than a politician that lies. However, what is dangerous is when a politician knows you are aware of their deception and doesn’t care about what you think. They don’t give a damn what Americans think.”
