Access to the campus was restricted to those with a valid school ID, following an incident in which an Israeli student, aged 24, was reportedly assaulted while putting up posters depicting individuals kidnapped by Hamas.
The assault, involving a female suspect, 19, wielding a stick, took place outside the iconic Butler Library. The New York Police Department spokesperson confirmed the student sustained minor injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody, facing charges of assault. The suspect had initially joined the Israeli student and others while posting the kidnapped Israelis’ images but later tore down the posters, leading to a violent confrontation.
