The fire devastated the Mahdia Secondary School Dorm before midnight on May 21, 2023. The teenage girl alleged arson killed one 5-year-old boy and 18 female students.

The accused teenage girl virtually appeared in court Monday. She was charged as an adult for the nineteen murders. The teenage girl wasn’t allowed to enter a plea to her charges.

The accused teenage girl will be scheduled for another court appearance on July 5, 2023. This will be determined if the murder trial can begin.
