This incident has led to the arrest of two suspects who are now facing felony charges in St. Louis County.
In a shocking and deeply distressing St. Louis burglary case, a four-month-old puppy miraculously survived a traumatic ordeal after being stolen from its owner and tossed from a third-story window
St. Louis County prosecutors, on Friday, formally charged James Edward Perry, 18, and Landon Jacobi Allen, 23, both residents of St. Louis, with second-degree burglary and two counts of theft exceeding $750. The suspects find themselves currently detained in the St. Louis County Jail, each with a stringent cash bond of $100,000.
The horrific incident began when the victim reported a St. Louis burglary on October 14. In this break-in, two beloved French Bulldogs, two-year-old Zelda and four-month-old Little Tory, were stolen. During the ensuing investigation, law enforcement became aware of an online post advertising these stolen pets, each listed for sale at an exorbitant $5,000.
A collaborative effort was initiated by the North County Police Cooperative, in conjunction with neighboring agencies, to set up a controlled buy operation aimed at apprehending the suspects
On October 19, authorities converged on the location where the exchange was scheduled. Here, they successfully located one of the dogs, Zelda, and apprehended an unidentified female suspect who cooperated with the St. Louis burglary investigation. This woman disclosed the whereabouts of the puppy, Little Tory, situated at her residence in the 900 block of Goodfellow. In a harrowing twist, as law enforcement approached the building, one of the suspects, whose identity remains undisclosed, recklessly flung Little Tory from a third-story window.
Incredibly, despite sustaining injuries from the fall, the resilient puppy is anticipated to recover fully, as confirmed by the police. Perry and Allen sought refuge inside the apartment after this callous act but were eventually apprehended by the authorities.
A subsequent search of the apartment led to the discovery of a significant quantity of fentanyl, evidently intended for distribution, along with two firearms. This critical information was extracted from the St. Louis burglary charging documents. Notably, court records in Missouri show that Allen is currently on probation for a prior St. Louis conviction related to the distribution of a controlled substance.
