When 1 of the deadliest poisonous spiders in the world was found in a package of bananas, an Austrian store was immediately closed.
The Brazilian Wandering Spider was reportedly discovered, based on the Daily Mail, and it may have been roaming the aisles of a Rewe Retail Group store in a city 45 miles west of Vienna.
The capacity of this spider’s bites to induce uncomfortable, prolonged erections is an odd side effect. The effects are so profound that some researchers have used the study of the spider to develop impotent medications like Viagra.
According to researcher Romulo Leite, who spoke with Live Science, “The erection is an unwanted consequence that everyone who is bitten by this spider is going to experience as well as severe pain and suffering.”
