An 8-year-old girl and her brother have swept away in a Central California River swollen from swiftly melting mountains of snow. The young girl was dead, and her 4-year-old brother went missing.

Siblings have been Swept away in the Central California River

The deputies of Fresno County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report at about 2:00 PM that children were missing in the Central California River near Pine Dam.

The children, their mother, and an adult acquaintance cross the threshold water off the shoreline a mile from the dam. The children made their way out when the current had carried them away from the Central California River.

After one hour of searching, the deputies found the young girl dead. She has swept away in a Central California River.

The search for the young boy who has been swept away in a Central California River continues

Authorities have cautioned people to be vigilant and exercise caution along the California River, where high levels and strong flows are creating dangerous situations.
