At Christopher Newport University in Virginia, an incident occurred early Tuesday morning resulting in a person sustaining non-life-threatening injuries

Following reports of gunshots around 3 a.m., university police swiftly responded to the student union. Upon arrival, law enforcement officials apprehended an unidentified individual who had no affiliation with the university. Concurrently, investigators successfully recovered a firearm. However, specifics regarding the extent of the person’s injuries and their correlation to the firearm remained undisclosed in Christopher Newport University‘s official statement. Additionally, police noted damage to a dining hall window, which had been closed for lunchtime.

Authorities assured that there was no ongoing threat within the campus premises. Despite the alarming incident, Christopher Newport University resumed its regular activities without interruption on Tuesday.

The university police responded promptly to reports from students regarding gunfire sounds within the student union shortly after 3 a.m. As a result, an individual not affiliated with the university was apprehended, and law enforcement officers recovered a firearm at the scene.

However, details about the nature of the injuries sustained and their relationship to the firearm remained undisclosed in Christopher Newport University’s official communication. Moreover, damage to a dining hall window, closed at the time, was reported by the police. Nonetheless, officials reassured the community that there was no ongoing threat on the Christopher Newport University campus.
