Shariko Smith, aged 24, has been sentenced by Montgomery County Circuit Judge James Anderson to 24 years in prison for the 2019 murder of Marcus “Dale” Martin, who tragically lost his life on April 30, 2019

According to District Attorney Daryl Bailey, the case presented a compelling narrative. It was revealed that Martin had extended an invitation to Shariko Smith to visit his apartment, where Smith had previously been a welcomed guest. Tragically, their interaction took a dark turn as an argument ensued, escalating to a point where Shariko Smith resorted to violence, drawing a firearm and discharging multiple rounds that claimed Martin’s life.

The sentencing, though not as lengthy as hoped by the prosecution, carries the weight of justice served. District Attorney Bailey expressed his sentiments, saying, “While my office pushed for this dangerous, habitual offender to receive a longer sentence, I hope it brings comfort to Mr. Martin’s loved bones that Shariko Smith is eventually off our thoroughfares and behind bars where he belongs.”
