As climate scientist James Hansen publicly declared before Congress in 1988 that global warming was hurting our planet, it shocked the entire globe. The former head of NASA’s Goddard Institute has now issued yet another terrifying warning to humanity, saying that cutting greenhouse gas emissions alone won’t cut it.
Even among climate scientists, Hansen and his team of scientists find that the rate of global warming is increasing in a new study that will be released by the journal Oxford Open Climate Change. This finding is disputed.
These updated projections indicate that, at some point this decade, we will pass the 1.5 degree Celsius global warming threshold set by international leaders in the 2015 Paris Agreement. And we’re going to have already reached 2 degrees Celsius by 2050.
