Robert Hunter Biden’s request to attend a court hearing virtually in relation to federal gun charges has been denied by a federal judge.
Magistrate Judge Christopher J. Burke asserted that Robert Hunter Biden should not receive special treatment in this matter and should be treated like any other defendant in court
The judge emphasized that any defendant would be required to attend their initial appearance in person. Robert Hunter Biden is scheduled to appear in court next Tuesday for his arraignment. Special counsel David Weiss, who recently indicted the first son for allegedly falsifying a gun application, opposed Robert Hunter Biden’s virtual appearance request. The charges against Robert Hunter Biden include three counts related to the gun application, with two involving his alleged false declaration of drug non-use during the firearm purchase, and the third concerning his alleged possession of a firearm while using drugs.
Robert Hunter Biden’s legal team has indicated he will plead not guilty to all three counts
Weiss assumed the role of special counsel and subsequently filed charges against Robert Hunter Biden after scrutiny arose regarding a plea deal the first son had negotiated with prosecutors in Weiss’s U.S. Attorney office regarding tax charges from a lengthy investigation. This deal unraveled when the judge raised concerns about certain provisions. For more updates on Robert Hunter Biden’s case, stay tuned.
