Republicans try to include a strict border security provision in an international aid package

After ruining the bipartisan immigration agreement, some Senate Republicans are attempting to add stronger border security elements to the international aid package.

Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican from Texas, presented an amendment on Thursday to include strict border security measures in the national security supplemental package for foreign aid, which will send billions of dollars to Taiwan, Israel, and Ukraine.

“While it is crucial that Russia and [Vladimir] Putin lose, protecting our country must come first. Only when we take significant steps to safeguard America’s borders will I provide financial support for military assistance to Ukraine,” Cruz stated to Fox News Digital.
