Republican lawmakers vow to withhold government spending until the border is protected

At a press conference organized by Representative Matt Rosendale, R-Mich., on Wednesday afternoon, Republican lawmakers threatened to withhold government funding in return for increased border security.

Legislators from both parties started negotiations with White House representatives in December, but they were unable to come to an agreement.

“What you’re about to begin observing is the House of Representatives utilizing everything we can using the resources that are accessible to us to ensure that the administration understand that they won’t be able to receive more funding for their top concerns unless we have a secure border,” Rosendale stated to reporters.
