As per to court filings on Monday, Donald Trump’s lawyer Joe Tacopina has left the former president’s legal team.
Prior to his resignation, Mr. Tacopina was Mr. Trump’s attorney in two significant matters. On Monday, he submitted his withdrawal in every case. His resignations coincide with the start of a trial to identify the amount of damages that Mr. Trump must pay E Jean Carroll for her defamation in 2019.
According to The Independent, Mr. Tacopina wouldn’t be commenting at this time on the reasons behind his withdrawal.
The New York lawyer headed Mr. Trump’s legal team in the civil rape lawsuit filed by Ms. Carroll, where a jury last year awarded her $5 million after finding Mr. Trump accountable for harassment and sex assault.
