Diana Ornelas, a preschool teacher at the Children’s Center of the Stanford Community, and her friend Dennis Novoa were accused of killing Oliver Waterfall

Authorities have stated that the motive for the crime appears to be “of a personal nature,” as Ornelas and Novoa reportedly knew Waterfall. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating the case for several weeks, conducting interviews and reviewing surveillance footage before making the arrests.

Ornelas was arrested during nap time, but the incident did not occur on campus and did not disrupt the preschool’s operations. A spokesperson for Stanford University confirmed that no children were present during the arrest. Ornelas no longer works at the Children’s Center.

Both Ornelas and Novoa are currently being held in jail without bail

The case is still under investigation, and authorities have not released any further details. The arrest of a preschool teacher during nap time shocked the Stanford community. Parents and staff members of the Children’s Center are concerned about the safety of their children and have been reassured that the incident did not occur on campus. Stanford University has offered counseling services to those affected by the arrest.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information about the crime to come forward. The community is hoping for answers and justice for the victim and his family.
