In an official statement, Crystal Palace confirmed that they were aware of a video circulating online which appeared to show a fan in the away end of the Tottenham Hotspur stadium making racist gestures towards Son.
Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace have both spoken out against alleged racist gestures made towards South Korean striker Son Heung-min during a Premier League match on Saturday
The club went on to condemn the behavior and confirm that the police have been notified, adding that they will not tolerate such conduct from supporters.
Tottenham Hotspur also responded to the allegations, calling any form of discrimination “abhorrent.” They pledged to take the strongest possible action against the perpetrator, should they be found guilty. The club also referred to a similar incident earlier in the season, where Son was subjected to racial abuse at Chelsea. The club identified and banned the offender indefinitely.
The Premier League also released a statement condemning all forms of discrimination and emphasizing that nobody should have to endure the kind of abuse suffered by Son
Meanwhile, Tottenham defeated Crystal Palace 1-0, moving up to sixth place in the Premier League table. Harry Kane scored the game’s only goal with a header just before the end of the first half, taking his tally to 209 Premier League goals and moving him to second place in the all-time scoring list, ahead of Wayne Rooney.
