Former Vice President Mike Pence is key evidence in the prosecution’s case against the former president, as evidenced by the federal prosecution of former President Donald Trump on 4 criminal counts saying he wanted to influence the 2020 presidential election.
Pence is presented as the key figure in the indictment opposing Trump and his alleged accomplices’ plans to postpone the transfer of authority before and on January 6, 2021, repeatedly rejecting Trump’s need that he do so while in charge of a joint session of Congress. Trump will be charged in a federal court on Thursday, despite his denial of any misconduct.
The House committee that looked into the attack and Pence himself have provided detailed evidence of his actions leading up to Jan. 6 in this regard. He recently published a memoir discussing his experiences on January 6 and following the 2020 election.
