A 52-year-old pediatrician, Dr. Talat Jehan Khan, fell victim to first-degree murder on Saturday

Eyewitnesses reported hearing cries for help and swiftly reacted. Matthew Amador, a witness, confronted the assailant with a sword, while others emerged from their residences bearing firearms. This collective response forced the attacker to flee the scene on foot.

Amador recounted that Fridrich first checked Khan’s pulse before inflicting three fatal stabs. The witness promptly provided the police with a description of the suspect, aiding in his swift apprehension on the complex’s east side.

Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, Khan could not be revived and was declared deceased at the scene. Fridrich now faces a first-degree murder charge and is detained at the Montgomery County Jail with a bond set at $500,000.

While the motive behind the first-degree murder heinous act remains undisclosed by authorities, the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Houston expressed interest in investigating the Muslim woman’s tragic demise

They stated, “We are unsure at this moment if this was a hate crime; however, given the tragic circumstances, we are paying very close attention to the investigation.” The organization pledged to continue monitoring the situation and collaborate with law enforcement about the first-degree murder attack.

Khan, who had recently relocated from Seattle to the Houston area, leaves behind a grieving daughter and son, as reported by her family members to KHOU11.
