The Paducah Police Department confirmed Antoinette Weston’s arrest on Wednesday afternoon, on charges of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft of identity without consent.
A woman from Paducah named Antoinette Weston, 35, was apprehended for allegedly engaging in theft and identity fraud at her place of work
According to the authorities, Antoinette Weston cunningly assumed another woman’s identity to secure a job at a local law firm on June 14. To deceive her employer, Antoinette Weston used a counterfeit Kentucky operator’s license that bore her photograph but contained the personal information of the innocent victim. Subsequently, Antoinette Weston illicitly cashed two company checks at a nearby bank, arousing suspicion within the firm when the fraudulent activity was discovered.
The law enforcement agency revealed the details of the crime in a Facebook post, stating that Antoinette Weston was taken into custody at her residence. Further investigation also led to the involvement of an accomplice, a man who participated in cashing the stolen checks.
It was confirmed that the woman whose identity was exploited by Antoinette Weston had no connection to Paducah and was entirely unaware of the criminal act
After her arrest, Antoinette Weston was transported to McCracken County Regional Jail, where she awaits further legal proceedings. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges being filed against her in the future.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and measures to prevent identity theft and fraud within the community. The local police department advises individuals and businesses to remain cautious and promptly report any suspicious activities to safeguard against such illicit practices.
