Outrage after a gang burglary at a Topanga Nordstrom leads to increased LAPD patrols

Following a weekend heist at the Nordstrom at the Westfield Topanga Shopping Center that gained national headlines, Los Angeles cops are boosting up patrols at neighborhood malls.

According to Cmdr. Gisselle Espinoza of the LA Police Department, the aggressive behavior of the flash mob on Saturday is being investigated.

Espinoza, a co-leader of the LAPD Valley Bureau, stated, “We are interrogating individuals and trying to develop leads and ways to figure out who these folks are. They are wild beasts.”

Due to the safety concerns the burglaries are raising in customers, she claimed that the issue goes beyond simple retail theft.

“We are making every effort to ensure that everyone feels secure,” she continued.

The bold daytime theft at the Topanga Mall just after 4 p.m. involved between 30 and 50 individuals, based on to the Los Angeles Police Department.
