This Friday is dedicated to the heat. By this noon, highs will rise towards the mid to upper 90s inland and drop to the low to mid-90s around the coast. The temperatures for the Heat Index will be between 109 and 115. Up till this evening, the counties of Marion, Alachua, Sumter, Levy, Dixie, and Gilchrist are under a heat alert.
A severe Heat Warning is in effect for Flagler County until 9 p.m. Today’s odds of rainfall are minimal, with about 30% of potential storms being widespread. Any rain that forms will end around 7 p.m., and the sky will be mostly cloudy tonight. Lows will be in the upper seventies. Keep yourself hydrated, spend as little time outside as possible, and wear loose-fitting clothes to keep safe in this heat.
There will be plenty of sunshine and warm temps at the beaches. Forecast highs are in the low to mid-90s with triple-digit feel-temperatures. Rain chances are relatively low for this afternoon and won’t start until after 3 pm. The wave is still in the 2-foot range, and the risk of breaking waves is high.
