A Cushing woman who visited the Allen Gamble Correctional Center in 2020 was charged with murder. Exactly 3 years after the incident, she is currently being held in detention. Early this year, District Attorney Erik Johnson learned that there was no arrest warrant in her case and made the decision to act.

Erik Johnson, the district attorney for Hughes County, said, “We succeeded in getting Ms. Smoot back into our jurisdiction, and we are fully dedicated to seeking prosecution.”

According to the original affidavit, Laura Smoot paid a visit to the Allen Gamble Correctional Center on February 8, 2020.

Gloria was found unconscious an hour later, and when she arrived at the hospital, the medical staff announced her death.
