A crane arm went in flames last Wednesday high above Manhattan, then collapsed onto the street below the NYC neighborhood.

Officials said permits and inspections were all up to date in the building under construction where the crane arm collapses

The crane arm collapsed because the fire started 45 stories above the ground at a building under construction on 10th Avenue, NYC, before 7:30 am.

The initial cause of the fire that made the crane arm collapses was hydraulic fluid that oozed onto a hot plate near the crane arm engine. At this point, the crane arm incident appears accidental.

The Department of Building Engineers is working to determine the cause of the fire that made the crane arm collapses.

Officials credited the crane arm operator for spotting the fire earlier and trying to put it out

Twelve people were injured, including three fire officers at the crane arm collapse incident. All of the injuries were declared non-life-threatening.

Last Wednesday afternoon, an inspection of the crane arm, the building under construction is not in danger of collapse.

Officials are fortunate that when the crane arm collapsed, not during the busy time of day.
