Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios will be absent from the upcoming French Open due to a foot injury sustained during a car theft incident

Daniel Horsfall, Kyrgios’ agent, explained that the adrenaline rush during the robbery caused Nick Kyrgios to injure the side of his left foot. The injury has set him back approximately two-and-a-half weeks in his training schedule, preventing him from participating in the grand slam event as originally planned. The suspect involved in the car theft was later arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, driving a stolen vehicle, furious driving, and failure to stop for police.

Kyrgios, a Wimbledon runner-up last year, had been recovering from knee surgery he underwent earlier this year. Although his knee has healed well, the foot laceration makes it difficult for him to practice and play effectively. Despite the setback, Kyrgios is aiming to make his comeback at the Stuttgart Open in Germany, which begins at the start of June.

The agent acknowledged that Kyrgios and his family have had a challenging month, not only due to the incident but also because of the impact on his mother, sister, and partner

Kyrgios’ absence from the French Open has been confirmed by tournament organizers, who have chosen not to provide further details.

The French Open, a prestigious tennis tournament, is scheduled to take place from May 22 to June 11. Fans will have to wait for Kyrgios’ return to competitive play as he focuses on recovering from the foot injury and resuming his professional tennis career.
