A state trooper was charged with manslaughter after shooting an unarmed motorist in New York after he declined to get out of his car following a high-speed car chase.

New York Trooper Anthony Nigro pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter case against him at an arraignment in Buffalo. The court released him without bail.
The charges in the shooting incident that resulted in the death of James Huber are an example of a criminal case being filed against a New York Trooper, who said the attorney general has the right to investigate the excessive use of force by a law enforcement officer.
The president of the union representing Nigro said the shooting was justified.
The officer’s body camera captured the shooting encounter on Feb. 12, 2022
The body camera video shows Nigro running to the car and informing his comrade on the radio that the Driver has been hit.
The shooting incident was investigated by Attorney General Letitia James, whose office brought the case.
