People are impatient and flooding the phone line, asking where their money is

The Taxation and Revenue Department of New Mexico is flooded with calls from New Mexico Taxpayers who are impatient to receive their share of $690 million in tax refunds, which the Governor signed into law earlier this year.

The Taxation and Revenue Department of New Mexico is printing and mailing checks through the end of this month. The office received  8,000 calls, with most questions about tax rebates.

The number of calls in a week is 11,000. The New Mexico taxpayers are being impatient. It would be helpful if people would be patient for a department can finish printing, mailing, and delivering.

Not every New Mexican will receive a rebate

Only residents who filed a 2021 state tax rebate and weren’t declared as dependent on someone else’s refund will receive money automatically.

Some New Mexican taxpayers will receive rebates, $500 for single filers and $1,000 for couples.
