A Nebraska man, identified as Matthew Briggs, suspected of homicide and carjacking, was shot and killed by police in western Iowa over the weekend

The list included the name of the deceased victim and two of Briggs’ ex-girlfriends, according to a statement released by the Omaha Police Department on Thursday. Law enforcement agents uncovered two firearms inside the stolen vehicle driven by the 41-year-old Nebraska man suspect. However, specific details regarding the list have not yet been disclosed, as Omaha police have not responded to requests for further information.

The search for Nebraska man Briggs began on Saturday following reports of his involvement in a string of violent crimes. In the early hours, the Nebraska man allegedly broke into the home of an ex-girlfriend and assaulted her. Shortly after, Nebraska man Briggs drove his car through the garage door of another ex-girlfriend’s residence, but she was not present at the time. When a concerned neighbor approached, Nebraska man Briggs fired shots but fortunately did not injure anyone. Authorities later discovered the lifeless body of 52-year-old Steven Donsbach in his Omaha home, and they suspect Nebraska man Briggs is responsible for the fatal shooting. Donsbach’s name was listed among the names found in Nebraska man Briggs’ Papillion residence.

During the pursuit of Nebraska man Briggs, a report of an armed carjacking in west Omaha matched his description

The stolen vehicle was located by officers, prompting a chase that crossed state lines into Council Bluffs, Iowa. After Nebraska man Briggs crashed the stolen car, two officers, one from Omaha and the other from Council Bluffs, confronted him. As Nebraska man Briggs pointed a gun at them, the officers resorted to using lethal force, shooting him. Nebraska man Briggs was immediately transported to an Omaha hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid leave, standard protocol in Nebraska and Iowa, while the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation conducts a thorough inquiry into the incident.
