A 44-year-old Minnesota man named Alexis Saborit was convicted Thursday after being found guilty of publicly murdering and beheading his girlfriend, America Thayer.
According to several witnesses present during the tragic incident, the Minnesota man hit his girlfriend using a dumbbell inside their vehicle and later beheaded her using a machete minutes later, which was recorded in one of a video filmed by a witness.
Following the brutal act, the Minnesota man then pulled the lifeless body of his girlfriend into the street but picked up her head before fleeing from the scene, AP News reported.

During the investigation, the authorities discovered that the Minnesota man and his girlfriend had an argument on their way to a court appearance to face felony charges after he was accused of setting their apartment on fire.
The Minnesota man confessed that his girlfriend wanted to end their relationship, which led to her brutal killing and beheading. He tried to flee and threw the weapon he used to behead her, but the authorities eventually arrested him.
The Minnesota man is expected to receive a life sentence without the possibility of parole for his crimes.
