The suspect, identified as Gregory Keyier-Deniro Davis, 43, was charged with multiple offenses including first-degree premeditated murder, assault with intent to murder, felon in possession of a firearm, four counts of felony firearm second offense, and felonious assault.
A man from Michigan has been accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend in front of their young child
Davis appeared in court on Tuesday for arraignment. Prosecutors alleged that Davis followed Anni Namou, his ex-girlfriend, to the car dealership where she was employed, known as Legend Motors. Witnesses reported that Davis used his vehicle to block Namou’s car. As Namou attempted to flee, Davis purportedly shot her twice, one of the shots fired from a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun at close range. Shockingly, their 10-year-old child was present inside Namou’s vehicle and witnessed the tragic incident. Additionally, Davis allegedly pointed the firearm at other individuals and discharged more rounds.
Davis surrendered himself to the authorities
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald expressed her deep concern over the horrifying and tragic event. She highlighted the alarming statistic that, on average, 70 women are shot and killed by their intimate partners each month in the United States. McDonald emphasized that the incident took place in a business establishment where other employees were only a few feet away. Davis has been charged with first-degree murder, the most severe offense under Michigan law, and the prosecutor’s office is determined to vigorously pursue justice for the alleged actions.
