Menthol tobacco product ban to be finalised by FDA in “coming months”

In the next months, the Food and Drug Administration will enact a final ban on menthol-flavored tobacco products. The organization is currently running behind schedule after first announcing in April 2022 that the flavor will be outlawed with an August 2023 deadline.

A spokeswoman stated that after August was over the specifics would be worked out and decided “in the coming months.” Since 2009, flavored cigarettes have been strictly prohibited, however, due to business lobbying, menthol was not included in the prohibition.
