Memphis Home Tragedy: Remains of Missing 4-Year-Old Found near Apartment

A press release issued by the Memphis Police Department reveals that Sequoia’s mother, Brittany Jackson, has been charged with aggravated child neglect, abuse of a corpse, and filing a false offense report in connection with her daughter’s death.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, the remains of 4-year-old Sequoia Samuels, who was reported missing by her family on Thursday, June 15, have been discovered near her family’s apartment in uptown Memphis.

Jackson’s boyfriend, Jaylon Hobson, faces charges of filing a false offense report. The community and employees involved in the search for Sequoia have been deeply affected by the tragic outcome. A statement from the authorities expressed their profound sadness and offered prayers for strength to everyone involved. Footage from a doorbell camera in the neighborhood captured Sequoia wandering the streets alone around 3 a.m. on the day she went missing. The Memphis Police Department described her as a 3-foot-tall child with a feeding tube on the left side of her stomach.

During a press conference, Sgt. Louis Brownlee, the Public Information Officer of the Memphis Police, stated that there was no evidence suggesting that Sequoia was kidnapped

The investigation is ongoing, and the Memphis Police Department urges anyone with information related to the case to come forward. Sequoia’s uncle, Samuel Bass, described her as an angel who always had a smile on her face. Her tragic fate has deeply touched the hearts of all who knew her.
