The settlement notice was filed by Jane Doe’s attorney, Adam Wolf, on September 27, just a week before the trial was set to commence.
Marilyn Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, reached a settlement in a sexual assault case brought against him by an anonymous plaintiff known as Jane Doe in 2021
Within the next 45 days, a request to dismiss the case will be filed, though the specific terms of the settlement remain undisclosed. The initial allegations claimed that in 2011, Marilyn Manson held Jane Doe captive in his residence, subjecting her to sexual assault, starvation, and threats. Warner and his attorney, Howard King, consistently denied these accusations.
King expressed Warner’s satisfaction with the resolution, highlighting that previous lawsuits against Marilyn Manson either dissolved without payment or were settled for a fraction of the demands. King emphasized that this settlement was a significantly smaller sum than the costs Warner would have incurred during a trial.
Jane Doe, in a courageous statement, revealed her concerns about facing a trial, fearing loss of anonymity, heightened victim-blaming, and further harassment
She stressed the importance of being able to share her story freely. Jane Doe also offered support and love to other victims, emphasizing that they are not alone in their struggles. Attorney Adam Wolf expressed his honor in standing with Ms. Doe and affirmed their commitment to pursuing justice, regardless of the time it takes.
Additionally, Ashley Morgan Smithline’s lawsuit against Marilyn Manson was dismissed after she retracted her allegations, accusing Marilyn Manson’s ex-girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood, of influencing her claims. Marilyn Manson’s defamation lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood remains ongoing, with a significant portion of it being dismissed by a judge in May.
