A man is in stable condition after being shot in a Lauderhill neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Shots Fired in Broad Daylight

It happened around noon in the 2900 block of Northwest 56th Avenue. Residents say they heard several loud pops — what they later realized were gunshots.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. Emergency crews quickly got him to Broward Health Medical Center, where doctors were able to stabilize him. His name hasn’t been released yet, but authorities say he’s expected to recover.

Police on the Scene

The area was quickly locked down with yellow crime scene tape as detectives combed through the parking lot for clues. Evidence markers were scattered across the ground, and officers were seen going door-to-door, speaking with neighbors.

Investigators haven’t said yet what led up to the shooting, and they haven’t named any suspects. At this point, it’s unclear whether the victim was targeted or if this may have been a random act of violence.

Community Still on Edge

Sunday’s shooting comes at a tense time for Lauderhill. Just a few days ago, city leaders held a public safety meeting, hoping to address growing concerns about crime in the area. Residents packed the forum, urging local officials and police to do more.

Now, after yet another violent incident, people in the community are shaken. One neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified, said she was coming home from church when she saw police cars racing into the complex. “It’s scary because this happened in broad daylight,” she said. “Kids play out here.”

Still a Developing Story

This is still an active investigation. Police are continuing to speak with witnesses, gather surveillance footage, and piece together what led up to the shooting. For now, the victim is recovering — and the search for answers continues.
