Patrick Clark, 33, was arrested in December in connection with the incident.
A man has been indicted by a grand jury in Harris County, Texas, on a murder charge relating to the shooting death of Takeoff, a member of the popular rap group Migos
The tragic event took place on November 1 outside a private party at 810 Billiards and Bowling in Houston, where Takeoff, 28, was fatally shot. Houston Police Chief Troy Finner stated that an argument outside the bowling alley escalated, leading to the shooting. Another individual named Cameron Joshua was previously arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in relation to the incident.
Authorities have described Takeoff as an “innocent bystander” caught in the crossfire of the argument that preceded the shooting. The state, in the arraignment document, alleges that Clark committed the felony offense of deadly conduct by intentionally and knowingly discharging a firearm at Takeoff.
Clark’s defense attorney, Letitia Quiñones-Hollins, acknowledged that they were anticipating it
Letitia Quiñones-Hollins emphasized that securing an indictment only requires meeting a minimal standard of proof and expressing confidence in their ability to present evidence and cross-examine the state’s witnesses during the trial. Quiñones-Hollins believes that the jury, which will apply the more rigorous standard of proof of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, will ultimately deliver a verdict of not guilty.
As of now, Clark is under house arrest, having posted a bond of $1 million.
Takeoff, the youngest member of Migos, was mourned by the music community and fans alike. At his memorial, renowned artists such as Justin Bieber and Drake remembered him as a talented rapper and cherished friend and family member.
