Prosecutors have revealed disturbing details in the case of Joseph Eaton, the man accused of killing his parents and two of their friends in Maine

The indictment includes a total of 27 counts, encompassing charges of murder, firearm theft, and aggravated attempted murder. The victims of the April killings were identified as Cynthia Eaton (62) and David Eaton (66), Joseph Eaton’s parents, as well as their friends Robert Eger (72) and Patricia Eger (62). Grand juries in two counties recently indicted Eaton on multiple charges related to the crimes. His attorney, Andrew Wright, has requested that the public reserve judgment until all the facts are known.

In Sagadahoc County, Eaton faces 16 counts, including intentional or knowing murder in connection with the deaths of his parents and the Egers. Additionally, he is accused of stealing eight guns from Robert Eger and one from his mother, Cynthia Eaton. The indictment further alleges that Eaton stole money, a check, and credit cards valued between $1,000 and $10,000 from the Egers. Shockingly, Eaton also faces a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals, related to the death of a dog.

Eaton was indicted on 11 counts stemming from shootings on a highway

The charges include aggravated attempted murder and elevated aggravated assault. It was previously reported that Eaton targeted six individuals on the highway, injuring three of them.

Both indictments highlight that Eaton was prohibited from possessing firearms due to a 2014 conviction for aggravated assault. He had been released from prison shortly before the recent shootings after serving a two-year sentence. Eaton’s next hearing is scheduled for June 28. As the legal process unfolds, more information is expected to come to light about the tragic events that unfolded in Maine.
