A man has been arrested by the Metropolitan Police outside Buckingham Palace after allegedly throwing what are believed to be shotgun cartridges into the palace grounds.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, with King Charles and Queen Camilla not present at the palace at the time. The man, who has not been identified, was quickly detained after throwing a number of items over the palace gates, suspected to be shotgun cartridges, into the palace grounds. The police arrested him on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. Authorities used a “controlled explosion” to eliminate a “suspicious bag” found in the man’s possession.
The police cordoned off the area as a precautionary measure
Buckingham Palace has not made any further comments about the incident. According to the news release, there were no reports of shots being fired, or any injuries to officers or members of the public.
This incident comes just four days before the coronation of King Charles at Westminster Abbey on Saturday. It is not yet clear if this incident is connected to the upcoming coronation.
