Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) last week offered legislation that might enable states to protect their borders on their own since the Biden administration fails to enforce federal immigration rules.
According to the State Border Defense Act, California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas could be able to erect barriers on federal lands or waters across the southern border and punish and deport illegal aliens.
Based on Fox News, the measure will effectively overturn a Supreme Court decision from 2012 that severely constrained the capacity of states to participate in immigration enforcement.
“Our southern border is overrun,” Hawley reportedly said to Fox. Joe Biden’s risky open-border policies are escalating the situation daily, causing states like Missouri to bear the costs.
