Larry Nassar, 59, sustained two stab wounds to the neck, two to the back, and six to the chest, causing a collapsed lung. Despite his injuries, Larry Nassar’s condition is reported as stable.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that an assault took place at Coleman on Sunday but did not disclose the identities of the individuals involved. Life-saving measures were promptly administered by staff members, and Nassar was subsequently transported to a local hospital. The incident posed no risk to staff, inmates, or the public, and an internal investigation is currently underway with the involvement of the FBI.

Larry Nassar pleaded guilty to sexually abusing numerous athletes under the pretense of medical treatment and also admitted to possessing child pornography. Larry Nassar, housed in a unit for sex offenders at Coleman since 2018, worked at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics.
This assault on Larry Nassar has drawn mixed reactions from survivors of his abuse. Sarah Klein, a former gymnast who experienced Larry Nassar’s sexual assault as a young girl, emphasized the importance of Larry Nassar facing the consequences of his actions and urged the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Prisons to ensure he does not evade his sentence. Klein, however, condemned the violence as morally wrong and believed that death would provide an easy escape for Larry Nassar. The incident has reignited concerns about staffing shortages and safety within the prison system, as similar incidents involving high-profile prisoners have occurred in the past.
