Los Angeles city officials are intensifying efforts to apprehend a suspected serial killer targeting the homeless population.
LAPD Chief Michel Moore confirmed on Friday that a single individual is believed to be responsible for the recent murders of three unhoused men in separate incidents across the city
The alarming spree began on Sunday, Nov. 26, when 37-year-old Jose Vamos was fatally shot around 3 a.m. in an alley near 836 West 110th Street. The violence continued on Monday, Nov. 27, at approximately 4:55 a.m., claiming the life of 62-year-old Mark Digs along the rear wall of the 800 block of East Seventh Street.
The third incident occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 29, around 2:30 a.m., near the intersection of South Avenue 18 and Pasadena Avenue, claiming the life of a 52-year-old male.
A specialized task force, led by the Robbery-Homicide division, has been formed, bringing together investigators with diverse expertise
Chief Michel Moore emphasized the collaboration of Homicide investigators from across the city and the activation of the forensic science division to swiftly process evidence and identify the suspect.
Mayor Karen Bass issued a plea to the homeless community, urging individuals not to sleep alone and to seek shelter immediately. She emphasized the need for collective support and assistance in spreading awareness about the ongoing threat.
